If you know me, you know that I love BBQing and grilling.* That’s why I was pumped to see this “menu maker” tool from the good folks at Fine Cooking (click here). This tool allows you to click through a number of mouth-watering options for cocktails, starters, main dishes, sides, and desserts to create the perfect backyard BBQ menu. The tool doesn’t stop at the menu, however. When you’re finished it compiles a shopping list for all of the dishes and courses that you’ve selected. Lastly, it also gives you a schedule of events for any prep and for smooth execution on the day of the feast.
The menu above is one that I put together for mojitos (to be made without the sugar a la the NorCal margarita), a guacamole appetizer, smoked pork shoulder, buttermilk and herb coleslaw, and grilled fruit skewers for dessert. It looks awesome.
Take the menu maker for a spin yourself and see what you can come up with.
Happy grilling,
Larry
*One should never confuse BBQing with grilling, especially when in Texas. BBQing involves cooking with smoke over low heat for long periods of time. Grilling involves cooking with high heat for relatively short periods of time. You can’t BBQ with gas; you can’t grill a pork shoulder.
